24 Hour June 18 Update

24 Hours of Summer Solstice

August 28-29, 2021

June 18 Update

Registration for our 2021 event opens on June 29, 2021. We will be limiting new entries initially until we get a better understanding of our event capacity.

Items in this email are subject to change. We need to remain flexible, but we are committed to producing the 24 Hours of Summer Solstice to the highest standard. It is great news that Canada's Wonderland is opening July 7 and with the extended vaccine rollout we are excited!

A few notes on changes this year due to health protocols:

1) Lights and Charging

Light and Motion will not be charging or renting lights on-site for 2021. Therefore, ensure you are self-sufficient for lights and bring an inverter or power supply to charge up your lights.

If you can't get a power supply, we will offer charging ports inside the chalet.

2) On-site Technical Support

The 24 Hours of Summer Solstice is excited to have Cycle Life as one of the event partners. They will be providing a store and some technical support at a cost.

S4 Suspension will be coming and working on re-builds all weekend long. There is a charge for this.

Shimano is tentative for 2021; we will confirm their attendance later.

3) No Shimano Kid's Race, No Spectator Activity

We are going to forgo doing spectator activities for 2021. What this means is no kid's race and no spectators at the start of the event. In addition, we are likely not going to allow spectators in the transition area.

4) Camping

We are still allotting the same campsites to teams. If your group wants to spread out, we will have additional family camping at the other end of the park. You can't pre-book these, but we have lots of space available.

Please note that your campsite is your bubble for the weekend. Therefore, we strongly advise that you are comfortable with your teammates. By the end of August, most participants should have received a second vaccine shot if they choose to.

While we understand this is a family weekend for some, we advise NOT to bring family, friends and spectators as our current advice. However, please consider camping in our family camping area at Albion (no pre-booking, lots of space) if you elect to bring family members.

5) Event Size Restrictions

Chico Racing will limit the capacity of the 24 Hours of Summer Solstice to follow Ontario guidelines. However, if we have to roll back the event capacity and can't accommodate you, we will provide you with full credit towards our 2022 event.

With Ontario's Step 3 of the rollout plan, we hope to accommodate everyone who wants to participate in 2021.

6) Starting and Transition Area

The start area will be spread out to allow physical distancing with smaller start waves in 5-minute intervals. Masking might be required on the start line and when waiting in the transition area, but masking is NOT required on the course.

Please try to keep 6 feet apart on the course when riding. Passing is allowed as the duration of the pass outdoors is not a significant risk for covid-19 transmission.

This is our best-guess scenario at this point as things are constantly evolving. As always, we appreciate everyone's support, and understanding in these challenging times.

Thank you,

Adam Ruppel

Chico Racing
